House of Q is one of Canada’s most recognized barbecue brands, built on competition success, award-winning recipes, and a passion for authentic slow-smoked flavor. The brand was founded by pitmaster Brian Misko, known to many as “BBQ Brian,” along with his wife Corinne in British Columbia. 
The story began in 2005 when Brian entered his first competitive barbecue contest. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a serious passion. Like many pitmasters, Brian began experimenting with sauces and rubs in his own kitchen, constantly refining recipes to find the perfect balance of sweetness, smoke, and spice. One of his early creations was a homemade Apple Butter BBQ Sauce, originally simmered in a stock pot using apples, molasses, honey, and spices. 
At competitions, Brian and his team would cook far more food than the judges required, sharing the extra with spectators who gathered around the smoker. When people started asking where they could buy the sauce, Brian jokingly sold the last jar he had on hand for five dollars. That small moment sparked an idea that would grow into the House of Q brand. 
As the competition team continued to travel and compete across North America, their recipes kept winning awards. In 2007, House of Q officially launched its line of barbecue sauces and spice rubs, bringing the same flavors used on the competition circuit to backyard cooks and professional chefs. 
Over the years, House of Q has earned hundreds of awards at barbecue competitions and food contests. One of the brand’s biggest achievements came in 2014 when the team won first place for ribs at the World Food Championships in Las Vegas, proving that Canadian barbecue could compete with the best in the world.
